Our Story

The Becoming Collective began as the fulfillment of a promise: one that was broken, forgotten, and ultimately rebuilt.

Before this brand, there was Stay Smiling, an athleisure project Teddy founded with his closest friends, inspired by a childhood vow he made on the day his father passed away. That promise was simple: keep moving, keep growing, keep becoming: no matter what life brings.

Stay Smiling was born out of gratitude for the people who stayed and the people who showed up. But like many journeys worth taking, it hit setbacks. After 20 months, Teddy closed the brand, carrying the weight of a promise that felt unfinished.

It was in that space between failure and becoming that The Becoming Collective took shape.

Teddy believes a brand is only as strong as the founder’s “why.” His comes from the way his parents lived:

“If you can, you should.”

If you can help, you help.

If you can try again, you try again.

If you can build something meaningful, you build it with everything you have.

A promise is just words until someone decides to act on it.

The Becoming Collective is that action: an ongoing commitment to growth, gratitude, and the belief that anyone can become something greater than where they started.
